This short animation workshop aims to foster a deeper connection to materiality and embodied knowledge through hands-on animation. Participants are invited to bring a small object, no larger than the size of their palm, from their daily life and environment. By incorporating techniques such as under-camera animation with paint and pastel or stop-motion using everyday objects like coins, leaves, or plants, participants engage directly with personally significant materials. This hands-on approach nurtures a tactile, sensory process that highlights the importance of craftwork and physical interaction with materials. As a critical practice, hands-on animation challenges the fast-paced, technology-driven methods of mainstream animation, which often feel detached from the intimate and embodied experiences these techniques emphasize.
